Mission

West Holdings Group LLC is dedicated to providing high-quality, accessible mental health and substance abuse treatment to the underserved communities of Detroit, Michigan. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals can heal from the effects of trauma, mental illness, and addiction. Our mission is to empower individuals to achieve lasting recovery, improve their overall well-being, and lead fulfilling lives. We believe in a holistic approach, addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of each person we serve. Through evidence-based practices, compassionate care, and strong community partnerships, we aim to break down barriers to treatment and support individuals on their journey to wellness.

Mental Health Counseling

Our mental health counseling services provide a safe and supportive space for individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.1 We offer individual and group therapy to address a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and bipolar disorder. Our experienced therapists utilize evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), to help clients develop coping skills, manage symptoms, and improve their overall well-being. We also offer case management services to help clients navigate community resources and access the support they need. In addition, we facilitate support groups that provide a sense of community and connection for individuals facing similar challenges.

Program Director
Carol Blair-Houston is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Licensed Master Social Worker, and Certified Advanced Addictions Counselor. She serves as Program Director, bringing a multidisciplinary approach to behavioral health and addiction treatment.

Carol is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care that addresses both mental health and substance use disorders. Her combined clinical and social work background allows her to support patients holistically while guiding program development and clinical standards.

It is a pleasure to virtually connect, and she looks forward to collaborating in support of improved patient outcomes and community wellness.

Eric Strother is a Family Nurse Practitioner, Board Certified, born and raised in southern Michigan. In 2015, he relocated to the Gaylord area with his wife and four children, where he continues to live and serve the community.

Eric has been working in healthcare since 2007, with extensive experience in emergency department and urgent care settings, as well as in addiction medicine. His clinical background allows him to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care across a wide range of needs.

Outside of work, Eric enjoys spending quality time outdoors with his family. His favorite activities include boating, hunting, backpacking, snow and water skiing, and snowmobiling.
